Diplomate Criteria
Advanced certification as a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (DCSW) recognizes a clinician has met nationally established standards for knowledge, skills, and experience.

The required criteria is a follows:
• Have a master's degree from an accredited university
• Successful completion of clinical coursework
• Must hold the highest level of state licensure
• Must have a satisfactory supervisory evaluation
• Must have a satisfactory colleague evaluation
• Be a member of the NASW
• Successful completion of over 7,500 hours of post-graduate clinical social work experience
Diplomate certification recognizes a clinician has obtained the necessary knowledge and competency to practice as a mental health professional according to the laws of Washington state, as well as meeting national standards.
Licensure recognizes a clinician has obtained the necessary knowledge to practice as a mental health professional according the the laws of Washington state, but does not necessarily reflect competency.
