Counseling for Success can help you feel happier and experience more peace of mind.
For the treatment of depression, Counseling for Success focuses on rebuilding your sense of self-worth, decrease negative self-talk, and increase feelings of purpose, meaning and connection.

Most depressed people tend to isolate, withdraw and turn inward.  Self-absorption is a hallmark trait of depression.  To overcome depression Counseling for Success will teach you a variety of techniques to elevate your mood, increase feeling of self-worth and confidence, and decrease feelings of guilt and worry.

What makes Counseling for Success different from other counselors?
1. Short term treatment. My goal is to help you feel well as quickly as possible.  Most people do not have to be in therapy for years.  The majority of our clients feel better within weeks or months rather than years.  For severe or complex symptoms therapy can take longer, but even then counseling is relatively shorter.

2. Effective techniques and talk therapy. You will learn effective techniques to reduce and manage your depression.  Some therapists just talk about your life, your past, and your problems but do not teach skills to help you reduce your symptoms.  I do both.  We do some talk therapy to gather relevant history and teach you scientifically proven techniques to help your reduce depression.

3. Strengths based therapy.  It is your strengths that will help you overcome the challenges you are facing today.  Some therapists focus on your problems and you end up feeling worse rather than better.  I help you identify your strengths and amplify good feelings which then makes it easier to reduce negative feelings.

Evidence Based Treatment
Numerous scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of the following forms of treatment in reducing depression.

Positive Psychotherapy
Positive Psychotherapy focuses on strengths rather than dwelling on deficits.   There are specific exercises you can learn to increase your feelings of satisfaction and pleasure in your day to day activities.  You will learn what you are best at so you can bring these strengths into your work, relationships, and recreation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you understand and change thoughts, perceptions, and beliefs that affect your emotions and behaviors. CBT is commonly used to treat a wide range of problems, including depression and anxiety. The positive, enduring effects of CBT have been proven to last long after a client ends therapy.

There are many other effective techniques and methods we have available such as clinical hypnosis, mindfulness training, emotional regulation training, and positive coping skill building.
